hedgerow



(with a grateful nod to Robert Frost)

No longer yellow,
and not nearly enough woods
for two roads to diverge,
the hedgerow cuts between
stubbled corn and
sleeping winter wheat.

One traveler,
on one tangled path,
through life less bound.
